Connie’s Story
Connie Sawyer grew up an equestrian in Pennsylvania riding and competing in hunters, jumpers and equitation. After graduating from Cornell University with a B.S. degree in Animal Science and competing across the North East, Connie became the Director of English Riding and a professor at SUNY Morrisville where she met and also began working with John and Beezie Madden. In 1999, Connie left the equestrian world behind to pursue a public relations, advertising and marketing career that was heavily focused on sports marketing.
Connie was named the Director of Special Events for Ed Lewi Associates of Clifton Park, New York and worked with many clients including the New York Racing Association, Saratoga Race Course, Price Chopper, Great Escape and the Sports Foundation of the Greater Capital District that handled NCAA events in Albany, New York. In 2004, John Madden created the Syracuse Invitational Sporthorse Tournament, and in 2005, Connie moved back to Ithaca, New York and started Connie Sawyer, LLC overseeing the broadcasting, advertising, marketing, sponsorship, media relations and hospitality as a member of the Syracuse Invitational Sporthorse Tournament’s management team.
From Syracuse to North Salem, New York, Connie then worked a member of the American Gold Cup’s management team as it relocated to Old Salem Farm and became a qualifier of the Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ North American League. Currently Connie works as the Manager of the Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ North American League (NAL) and is the Fédération Equestre Internationale Events Manager for North America. Connie oversees television and streaming production, distribution, on-site logistics as well as the implementation and delivery of Longines rights and FEI Jumping World Cup™ Series and brand standards at all Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ North America Events.
Additionally, Connie Sawyer, LLC works with equestrian-based events, athletes, and brands to develop and coordinate advertising, sponsorship, marketing, media relations, social media, and overall brand management. Connie Sawyer, LLC currently works with John Madden Sales, Taylor Harris Insurance Services, The Dutta Corporation and Tulucay Farms.
Major equestrian events that Connie Sawyer has been involved and worked include: Syracuse Invitational Sporthorse Tournament, American Gold Cup, Longines FEI Jumping World Cup Finals Omaha; Las Vegas, FEI World Equestrian Games™ Tryon and many qualifier/legs of the Longines FEI World Cup™ North American League; Longines FEI Jumping Nations Cup™ Series throughout North America.
